Viva Las Vegas!!

Last Wednesday, I think I managed the best surprise for TJ for his 31st birthday. I had wanted to do this last year, but Kenley was only 4 months old, and I wasn't ready to leave her yet. I had told TJ we were going to Put-in-Bay, OH for the weekend. I had sent him websites of our hotel, and we had discussed where we wanted to eat, etc. It was pretty hard for me to keep a straight face when he'd bring up how excited he was to go to Put-in-Bay, when I knew we were really going to Vegas (TJ has never been)!

I had been in contact with his boss and asked him to make TJ come into the office on Wednesday. I showed up at his office around 4:45, interrupted their meeting, and told him "Let's GO!" He had no idea. I actually think he thought he was going to get in trouble! We got to the airport, only to find our flight had been delayed, so they put us on a new one.

We ended up in Vegas at 12:30 AM, and in our room by 1:30 (4:30 AM Indiana time)!! We stayed at the Luxor, and the rooms were just ok. It is at the south end of the strip, so on Thursday, we just set off walking north. (after mimosas and bloddy mary's of course!) We stopped at every casino (and I think I won at every casino!), turned around at Paris, and walked back to our hotel.

We went to Old Vegas that night, then did the rest of the strip the next day. At one point, I think I was up $450....but Old Vegas was our downfall. We were sooo tired on Friday night after a pretty awesome buffet at Mandalay Bay, that we really didn't go anywhere but our own hotel/casino.

The flight home was a nightmare. Our flight to Salt Lake was delayed 3 hours, so they again put us on a different flight. It left about 5 hours later than we had planned, then we waited in LA for 5 more hours, followed by a 4 hour flight. At one point I was in tears...I just wanted to see my baby girl that night. Instead, I got to see her bright and early the next morning!

I'm excited I truly got to surprise TJ with this fun trip for his birthday, I just know I don't want to fly again any time soon!! Happy 31st Birthday TJ! :)

(Sorry for the poor quality of photos...I didn't take my good camera. And we didn't take very many pictures!)

I forget what casino/shopping this was!

Lions at MGM

Old Vegas...TJ w/his football drink (to make it less "girly")

This drink was the (near) death of me. Who thought it was a good idea to get the BIGGEST one??

Dick's Last Resort - I don't know why TJ didn't get a hat! Mine says, "I'm so E-Z, he could do me!" ... That's not very nice!

In Mandalay Bay Shark Reef

Jellyfish

Sharks!

Alligator!

Kenley in her outfit I got her while shopping in Vegas

And kissing the monkey mommy got her in the Vegas airport while we waited FOREVER (and I had a minor breakdown b/c I missed my baby!)

  1. Hope you had fun! I agree, Luxor is kind of a pit, but it's so cheap and everything good is close by! I hope you loved the food at Mandalay Bay-- that's where we got married and that is the food we are for our reception. I literally dream about that food... there wasn't a crumb left.... mmmm delish!!! We might go back for our one year and stay at Mandalay Bay this time around. We are going to try Old Vegas next!! Who were you flying meanwhile?? ack!!!
